OK, have I got your attention? You know (I hope) that frequent hand washing can protect you from the flu. But did you know that the rubbing is as important as the medium?

In other words, just a quick wipe with hand sanitizer will not kill 99.9% of the germs on your hands. That’s a bit like saying applying tooth paste to your teeth prevents cavities.

To clean your hands, apply a generous amount of hand sanitizer and then rub your hands together for a while—long enough to kill most of the germs. How long is that?

Long enough to sing the happy birthday song with these words:

No Swine Flu for me
No Swine Flu for me
No Swine Flu for me-eeeee
No Swine Flu for me

Sing it in your head or out loud while rubbing the hand sanitizer around your hands as though washing with soap and water.

There you have it. The best protection available.

Don’t believe me—ask your doctor or any other health care professional.

You can be flu-free for a song.
