I frequently travel around the country on business. I grow weary of the standardized buildings I see. If you’ve seen one Staples and Linens and Things complex, you’ve seen them all. Yawn.
Vast areas controlled by the same developer compel new businesses to fit into the cookie-cutter mold. You’ll surely recognize the unoriginal style of the building in the background—not their fault. All buildings must look the same.
The pictured building is a new dental office. Though this dentist was compelled to make his new office look like a mini Staples, he managed to be remarkable. The fountain and small surrounding garden area stand out from the boring. It’s an oasis in the midst of an urban architectural desert.
Great job! When I find out his name I’ll give proper credit for doing the remarkable. He didn’t need a fountain—it’s a dental office. But it is remarkable.
