When it feels like things are getting worse and worse, Stop everything. Take a walk and do some thinking. Observe the situation at a distance. Think about what to change in your approach. Think about what tools would make the problem workable. Plan a new method of attack.
All around are people being consumed with work-related stress. STOP.
