Last night at 8:00 p.m. I happened to stop by my office and noticed the flashing alert on the answering machine.

“This is XYZ Delivery. I have a box for you but cannot find your driveway. Call me.”

The driver failed to leave a callback number. The driver failed to leave a tracking number. I have no idea who the shipper of this item is or what it is. I called XYZ this morning (NOT UPS, FEDEX or USPS)—after going through an extensive and annoying phone tree, I was connected with XYZ’s only deaf employee. I had to repeat everything at least five times before being told they cannot track or trace anything without a tracking number. Can you tell me how to reach the driver in my area? They have “no way of knowing that information”. There’s a system!

It is so frustrating to receive messages that do not contain the pertinent facts. So much time is wasted on the telephone just trying to obtain the information needed to conclude business.

Why didn’t the driver leave his name, phone number or tracking number? He wasn’t taught to.
