The typical doctor’s office almost always has one fiercely loyal employee. This is the one who “protects” the doctor. She’s the one that blocks your calls. She’s the one that will handle your question for you—no need to talk with the doctor.  Sometimes she’s nice. Sometimes she’s very snippy. Sometimes she’s the doctor’s wife.

If you run a medical practice, be very careful of this person.

She’s the most likely one to be embezzling from your practice. Want a clue? If she rarely takes her vacation time, audit your books. If she never asks for a raise, audit your books.

True.
