So this guy’s camel escapes while the family sleeps. The next day when he discovers the loss, he’s very worried. That camel is everything. Without it, the guy could be wiped out completely. He’d lose his ability to get his goods from market to market. His business will fail.

So his friends see him anxiously walking around camp looking at the ground. “Abdul! What are you looking for?” asks a friend. “A rope,” replies Abdul. “A rope? I can give you a rope,” the friend replies. “No! This rope has a camel attached!” exclaims our hero.

In your metrics, supply-chains, 6-sigmas and lean programs, are you looking for the rope or trying to find your camel?

I want you to look for the right thing (the camel) and quit wasting time on silliness.
