CHICAGO – Federal authorities arrested Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich Tuesday on charges that he brazenly conspired to sell or trade the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder.

Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in the sale of Wrigley Field, according to a federal criminal complaint. In return for state assistance, Blagojevich allegedly wanted members of the paper’s editorial board who had been critical of him fired.

This is our fault, fellow citizens. We elect these crooks. If we, as voters, don’t totally clean house from the top down, we’re to blame for the messes these crooks create. Why do we repeatedly choose the evil of two lessors? Start locally and throw them out. Forget personality. I don’t care if they are “nice” or charming. I want to see results and integrity. Don’t you?

Don’t settle, throw them all out and let’s start fresh. And if you’re not happy with the results? Throw them out again. Keep throwing these people out until you get results.

Actually doing the work of a congressional representative is hard. If you really did the work, you wouldn’t want the job for 30 years, would you? Do you actually believe the best members of congress are those who been there the longest? Look at the crook in the state of Alaska. Longest serving Republican in the Senate. Convicted Felon. Lost re-election by a couple hundred votes. The air must be pretty thin up there in Alaska.

If you don’t demand ethics in government and industry, we’re going to lose our way of life. Quit with the labels. Quit with the conservative versus liberal nonsense. Turn off Rush Limbaugh and whoever the liberal counterpoint is and do your own thinking. These radio and TV personalities are entertainers on the level of clowns. But they are not funny now. The country is in trouble and it’s your job to fix it.
